The heel clicker results are in!

Well for starters the installation was as easy as any other weight spring installation, no drilling and grinding like with the sleds. Prior to installation I took it for a little ride with my hpd kit still in to give me a good feel.
Now for the good part!
These are a very noticeable difference over the hpd kit. The engagment rpm is a bit lower than hpd's kit which I found to be very nice because who wants to rev the bike up very high just to take off when doing everyday riding. From about 10 miles an hour I pinned the throttle and my front end started to come up a couple inches (about 3 or 4) it stayed at that height for about 20 feet and then came down (my hpd kit would not have picked the front end up at that speed). The pull these weights give are incredible to say the least. They pull hard and steady all the way through the powerband. Now about top speed they don't give that 5-6 mile an hour increase like they said, but hey I got 3. I'm not calling them liars because probably from stock clutch to clickers you probably will get 5 or 6.
Now the bad part. I rode for a little while trying to get a real good feel in different areas of acceleration. In the proccess of doing a hole shot I busted my clutch buttons all to hell. So needless to say we well have to wait until I get my roller clutch (from HPD) to give you any more info.
Sorry I couldn't give you guys any more.
I'll have to switch back the old weights when I get my roller clutch, and give you guys some times from different distances.

Bubba,
I also have to wait about another wk before I can post any time differances.Mine are installed[in my EBS clutch] but there coming back out.The sheeves on my EBS primary clutch, towards the very bottom of the sheeves are FLAT.So when I take off from a stand still, the quad is a turtle until the belt gets above the flat part of the primary sheeve to the tapered part of the sheeve, than she really takes off and the front end starts to come up.Im getting a new EBS clutch and the kit will be installed in the new EBS clutches.
I had the same problem on my 99 Sportsman.I beleive I THINK I know what is causing my clutches to wear so fast.I have been running 26 inch Mudrunners on both my Sportsman and my Xplorer since new.I think the added weight/diameter of these tires are really loading up the primary clutch, since MOST of my speeds are spent below 15mph,the belt is allways on the lower part of the primary sheeve and causing excessive wear.I had identicle problems with my Sportsman.
When the Hot Seat clutch kit come in,I removed the EBS clutch, and installled my factory non ebs unit with the kit.I have had that non EBS unit on for no more than 2 months, and im allready showing signs of wear on my factory non EBS clutches.
Yesterday,
I ordered the very best[239 dollars]chain and sprockets that Sidewinder carrys, and I also went with a 38 tooth rear sprocket instead of the stock 36 tooth in the rear, this should more than make up for the extra weight/diameter that im trying to push with the factory sprocket.
Next week should be interesting,
Bill

I had my name in for one of the heel clicker kits but after reading just two of the results I have changed my mind. Sounds like they are more trouble than they are worth. A new secondary roller clutch in one case, and a busted up secondary in the other. I have heard all the stories before about why there clutch kit isn`t working in your machine. Now i hear that the primary clutch is wore flat. I would be very surprised if that solved anything except for getting rid of more money. If this clutch kit is going to be sold to the masses, it sounds very expensive. Any one with any miles on there quad will have to buy a new primary to make the kit work. Don`t think thats going to happen. And if the primary can take it, then it sounds like the secondary can`t. Sounds to me like the heel clicker kits cost more in the neighborhood of 800 bucks and thats if you can do the work yourself.Maybe Jack was right you better have everything else perferct before expecting much out of these kits.I`ll stick to my Hot Seat kit atleast I havent had to buy a new primary clutch and a new Roller secondary to make it work.Just my two cents, and they`re doing more to the primary than just the kit to get the 8 to 10 MPH out of it I`m willing to bet.

Puller,
Jacks not right about nothing just yet.First off,the kit was installed on my WORN EBS primary clutch. Is that the Heel Clickers fault?I think not.I should of known better than to attempt installation on a worn clutch.
You go right ahead and stick with your Hot Seat clutch kit.I installed one in a BRAND NEW non EBS primary clutch less than 2 months ago,and even in this little time span, the sheeves on the primary are showing signs of wear at the bottom.Am I to blame this wear on the Hot Seat clutch kit?
I run oversized mud tires on my Xplorer, this causes extra drag on the clutches.Think about it?
Now as for Bubba's Heel Clickers?I'll bet you that the Heel Clickers had nothing to do with his secondary buttons wearing out,in fact, its my bet that they were ready to go ANYTIME,regardless of the clutch kit.
You gain more top end from this kit because the primary flyweight arms extend further out, this causes the belt to ride higher up in the primary and lower in the secondary, thus increasing top end.
Maybe Jack was right about this kit, however,im going to wait until I have my new clutch in to make that assumtion,

I was wondering how your primary clutches wear so fast, you say you do a lot of driving in the 10 to 15 mph range, then my question is are you running in low range.I`m not that familar with your quad so maybe it doesnt have low range.I`m not trying to be a wise guy.Just trying to collect as much info on these kits before spending money on them.I have already tried Erlandson,HPD, and Hot Seat. When I set up my quad I use a tach so I know instantly whats going on.Hot seat is the only one that didn`t give me a rise in rpm on take off and then a drop in rpm telling me thebelt was slipping.I also run 26 inch mud runners. Is anyone installing them on a 500 HO do you know,or have you heard the results of testing on one.As far as top speed my understanding is that there is a stop, a plastic spacer in the primary ,that limits clutch travel. So no matter how much weight you throw at it it will only travel so far. Thus limiting top speed.Definately keep posting results its nice to see someone else willing to try the unknown.

Puller,
I allways run it in low range below 10mph or when towing ANYTHING.Im not so sure why the clutch sheeves are wearing like they are,but even on my Sportsman ,the wear was the same and the primary clutch had to be replaced.I'd hold off on this kit until we are SURE of whats going on.It should hopefully be this coming week,
