Hi Guys,

Just got my 42mm Flatslide Carb from Hot Seat today. I have a few questions on the installation. I'm having a mechanic do it cause I don't want to screw anything up.

I just installed an RcR Stage 1 kit with the Mid-range pipe on it. Currently I have the stock carb running the jet's that came with the RcR kit. I believe that it's the 270? Well, the jet's that I got with the carb kit are 370, 380, and a small one (I have no idea what the carb lingo for it is, but the head on it looks like it can be screwed in with a flat head screwdriver) that is a 20.

I am located in Vermont and the elevation is 533ft and up as high as 900ft if that makes a difference.

I'm just wondering what Jet's I should run. Will the ones that came with the carb be okay? Like I said, I don't know anything about this stuff. Thanks.

On a mikuni TMX I would start with a 380 main , a 10 or 15 pilot , and a number 55 needle . The small screw in jet is a pilot , you can try the 20 , but it may be a tad rich . It sounds like it may be pretty close to what needs to be in it.

The needle is EXTREMELY critical , please check what came with it.

The 42 mm carb is a modified 38 tmx the ones I have seen and tested on a flow bench it doesn't flow any more air than a standard 38tmx. The modification to bore in front of the slide is supposed to put a harder pulse onto the jets .

Thanks Rick! I will post the info on the Needle after I find somebody that can show me where the darn thing is. It will be a learning experience. I feel kinda dumb. Thanks again.

The needle is in the slide the cable hooks to. It looks like an aluminum toothpick .

LOL...I opened the carb up myself to take a look at the needle jet # and that stupid spring gave me a good suprise when I took the screws out!!! Anyway, the needle says 6E J12 57 so I'm guessing it's a 57? Oh, also if it helps, I run my quad mainly in the spring and summer, but the temps can be anywhere from 40-90 degrees. Summer time the range is usually between 70 and 85 or so. I really appreciate your help. I'm clueless. Thanks.

Oh also, I forgot to see what the Pilot jet was. Should I open it up again and take a look? It's whatever one came with it.
