Whisky,
Yeah.. they will fit... I've heard that on some..(I think it was the 97 models) you have to move the floorboards forward slightly for clearance... I've seen 99 models with aftermarket alunimum wheels and 25"SuperSwampers on them..
On Adam Dowdens web-site (Scramblers Domain) If you go thru the pictures of the Karnack mudrun, you will find that red Scrambler 500 with the Swampers. So Bearclaws should also fit.
You might want to buy some front fender extensions .lolol

After I put my 25x9x12(f) and 25x12x10(r) Bearclaws on my 99 scrambler I had a thumbs width between the rear tires and floorboard. I took the 4 bolts out of the floorboard so I could move it around, I left the mud flaps connected. I moved them up and out wider by about an inch or two. It makes the tires look right and also gives a better feel to it. I had an FMF MegaMax II on it so I didn't feel the power loss, I know I don't have to put it in awd much just because of the added ground clearance. I don't think you will feel a loss of power, I still sling it in and out of coners faster than the stock ones due mainly to experience but still the 500 has the power to spin these bad boys. Check out a few pics of it at My Scrambler
