help! hole in cv boot

I have a sp 500 ho and have just found a hole in the cv boot uper rear. How dificult is this repair? Or is there any helpfull hints? Also I would like to know if there is a after market protector to install to keep this from hapening again? thanks Tomggg

Never did a rear, but the front aren't too bad. A BIG help is to download the parts manual from the Polaris website. It not only lists the parts by order #, they show how they all fit together, and it is FREE, just takes a while to download.

Many people around here have had good luck with Stick Stoppers to protect the boots. They are available from cabelas, and others are available from dennis kirk, hot seat, etc. (Just add .com to the ones I mentioned to get to their website). The most effective ones are kind of 'U' shaped to cover the front, back, & bottom, but keep in mind that shape also holds more mud & snow.

if the hole is small a good grade of silicon sealer will seal it. clean the area good with solvent and try not to get to much inside the boot
