Wiesco Piston kit
#1
I have a scrambler 500 97 no ho and am wanting a piston kit maybe.
These are my mods:ITP Holeshot XCT (stock sizes), Douglas .190 Red Label Aluminum rims, HPD Adjustable Steering damp, HPD Chain Tensioner, RK-X Rear Racing chain, Hot Seat Front Struts (Fox 1.5 Series), K&N Filter, Aeen Megaphone Muffler, Outerwears on All shocks and K&N, Dayco Belt.
Would a Wiesco Piston kit retain the realiablity of my quad or would it accelerate wear down?
What advantages does this kit give me?
Thanks,

There is an article in the 2/00 issue of ATV Sport mag. about exactly the same thing you are asking about. It's a re-build of a '97 Scram 500 and they talk about the "new" Wiseco 10.5:1 piston. In my opinion, the compression is not that high to worry about anything, but compression usually wakes these small motors up big time.

I love my steering damp, I like how on different terrains you can set it to perform the best. Like on rocky or rutted terrain I turn it to max and the bars don't get jolted or steered around. On soft smooth places I usually use it to mid or less. Great mod I love it. Hope u like yours as well as I have enjoyed mine.

As in the article in ATV sport the new higher compression piston puts some wind in my sails. I would like however to change the cam too and unfortunately that requires a piston that has valve reliefs noched into the top for clearance. The new wiseco piston does not have that and if i replace the piston i only want to do it once.
I have the Aaen steering dampener but it offers the same results ( Less fatigue ).
