charging system??

ona 400 explorer /i have a set a catapillar 55 watt headlights and a stereo system with 2 speakers.i can get a 40 watt x 2 amp at walmart for 32.99 and i was wondering if that would pull to much off of my charging system and tear it up?i have a high powered pioneer cassette deck but its not loud enough.does anyone here know anything about stereos?

Let me double check the specs , the sterio is not a problem . I suspect if you have trouble it is the lights .
What are you gonna do ? Try to tree coons at night with lights and recorded hounds barking ?
Heck , might work , to bad coon hides aren't worth what they were in the 70's .

just about anything made today has the amount of amps that it will draw listed right on the name plate..add them all up and convert the amps to watts..once you have a total of watts draw,refer to the specs for your quad..i beleive most of the quads are 200-250 watts..if your calculation is over that then dont do it..you can also just hook the power leads up,turn it all on and then do an amps check on the positve cable with an amprobe.that will tell you the acytual amps draw on your system,and again if its over your quads spec then dont add it..
