<< TextTextMy 2000 Foreman and my 2001 250EX Were Chained with a huge logging chain on my back porch guarded by two useless watchdogs in the house but they still should have barked in a chain link fence that had lock on the gate with a tarp bungeed on them Protected by Smith & Wesson with me my wife and 15 yearold all at home and we woke up one sunday morning to find them gone and we dont live in a bad neighborhood I could not believe the could do it with out waking us up and me shooting their A$$. But it was probably best i didnt wake up because they were insured but I would have liked too. but it happened and guess what the police do not even come out for a stolen atv they take a report over the phone.... The thieves pulled the tarp off I dont know what they did with the chain because the took it too just bent the gate latch open pushed them two blocks thru neighbors yards leaving tracks all the way and loaded them on a trailer. and nobody saw anything When I replace them they will be kept in a Welded cage made of 3 inch Well casing and alarmed through my home system plus a couple secret measures Dont Let this Happen to you. >>

That is so disturbing to hear . So many quads get stolen , there must be a market .
My motto has always been * Brave enough to steal ? Brave enough to get shot . * I have often thought of a nice professionally done sign like this in my yard . I am sure folks with good intentions would not be offended when they come to my home .
Legaly not the best idea, but still , crack a few doing that and I don't think we'd have as big of a problem .

Im glad to hear you had insurance, It seems to be the only piece of mind left, In the last year and a half my F150 was broke into in my drive way and the air bags stolen and about 3 weeks ago some jerk tried to break into my Z71 and cost my insurance co. a new door. I keep my quad chained to the floor in my garage but im sure if someone wants it bad enough they will give it a shot. The dealer I bought my quad from is about 15 miles from my house, There was a story on the news awhile back where his dealership has been broken into over 6 times in the last year resulting in 7 lost quads!!

if only we could figure out how to put a lineloc up under the plastic so that it is hidden.we could loc up the brakes on all 4 and hit the line loc to hold them at full pressure.ever try to drag 600 to 700 pound atv with brakes on??!!

A line-lock will only work as long as the hydraulic pressure holds. A simpler fix is to buy a break disc lock and install it on the rear break. Come to think of it, the none HO's have no holes in the break disc so this may only apply to the HO's. My local P dealer sells them but the pin was too big for the hole so after some searching I found one in at my local Honda shop with the right size pin. Another option is to drill the holes out a little bigger then you can use the P lock.

So sorry to hear that DanimalFL! I'm so glad you have insurence on them! Just last month somebody stole my neighbor's Honda fourtrax 300 off of his car port, he lives about 300 yds. down the road from me and somebody just snatched it right off of his carport, im not sure if he had it chained or not though! It does seem that this is getting more common! When i get my quad, which will probably later on next summer hopefully, if i can save up enough cash, im gonna log chain it in my shed and lock my shed, and i will probably try a few other things as well, I like real4X4's idea, and i also like traildog's idea! Like traildog said the lineloc will only work as long as the hydraulic pressure holds, and the brake disk pin lock would prolly be the better and cheaper way to go, both great ideas though!

I wish i could say it did'nt happen to me...BUT!...It did on, 7-17/18-01.. It sounds like the same story, different state! After 9:30 pm on 7-17, and before 6:15am 7-18, someone cut the chain off of the three 4 wheelers i had under my carport. They rolled them about 50 yards down the hill from my house and managed to get 2 outta 3 loaded in something ( a trailer i guess). i found my 2001 scrambler 500 2x4 pushed in the ditch!! THEY TOOK THE 1995 POLARIS 400 EXPLORER 4X4 AND THE OLE' YAMAHA BLASTER????? They must have ran out of room, because the scrambler would have been the last one in line to get out of the carport (and the most appealing to a thief, i would guess). I would like to say that Iknow how you feel (you know that weird *** feeling right after you realize that there stolen, immediately followed by severe anger). I hope you find yours, I WILL FIND MINE SOMEDAY!

I spent all winter working on my Sprotsman at my buddies shop. When I was finished I brought it home. One day after I had it home someone tried to break into out farm tool shed where it was kept.
I'm not sure if thats what they were after or not but I'm betting it was. Luckily they didn't get in, tried like hell though. Broke a window and bent the hell out of the pad lock hasp. We don't take any chances anymore, the bike gets blocked in by 3 John Deere farm tractors against the wall with the keys taken out of them. You guys could probably do the same thing by pulling a vehicle tight up against yours and a wall on the other side. Just a suggestion.

Does most home owners insurance cover stolen ATVs? I'm going to call mine in the morning. Then I'm going to buy the fattest chain, the biggest lock, and about 10 bags of concrete. I'm gonna dig a hole, pour in the concrete, sink some of the chain in the concrete and wrap the rest around my axle. If that don't stop'm, not much else will if they want it bad enough. The alarm is a good idea.

My homeowners policy did not cover my loss because my carport was not connected to my house, and they had a horsepower clause that stated they required seperate policy's for atv's ,boats and lawn tractors.!.I did have insurance on the only one that they did not take.( only because I financed it and the credit union required me to cover it). I lost a lot of money learning this lesson, because it only cost me $106.00 a year to fully cover my scrambler. HIND-SIGHT IS 20/20...You can bet the farm that the 4-wheelers i get to replace my stolen ones will be insured to the max!!
