Hi. I'm about to do my first oil change on my 99 SP500. The dealer did the first one at about 250 miles and even though it only has 330 miles on it, I hit a stick or something that came up thru the fram and bent the oil filter. Since I need to replace the filter, it gets new oil as well. Any tips or advice on how to do it? I have the service manual and plan to follow it. Is it easy to do or will I have to take it all apart? I plan to work on it tonight so I can ride it tomorrow. Thanks.

Draining the oil is a snap.First, warm the engine. Than take off your left side cover. This will allow easy access to the oil filter.Spin it off, install the new one.The oil drain plug is in the front, behind the left front wheel.Remove the drain plug and let it drain out.Thats all there is to it.If you get into trouble, read you owners manual. It will take about 1 and 3/4 qts of oil to re-fill.Good Luck,===BILL
