I stumbled accross this. This is from a portion of the Polaris webpage. I don't think it's linked from anywhere. But, never the less, read the first question:

Keep in mind, this is from '95. Just an FYI.

Hmmm, interesting. Does Fugi have a plant in the US?

Interesting.... I had to buy a new Starter Bendix for a machine I repaired for a friend... (EXPENSIVE part) anyway... it was a 425 Magnum... and the box that the part came in said Fugi on one side, and on top it said Robin Engines... I am thinking this means Wisconsin Robin Engines.... Anybody know for sure?... Robin Engines might be manufacturing for Fugi as a U.S. supplier?...

Here is something I posted back on April 29, 1999 about Fuji and Polaris.
(FHI (Fuji Heavy Industry). is the parent company for RobinAmerica which make the Fuji Engine for Polaris here in the USA!! Robin America also make engines for John Deere and Snapper.
If you want check out these URL's to see where I got my info from:
http://www.polarisindustries.com/ann...ort/letter.htm (1995)
http://www.robinamerica.com/about/fuji.html
( I have updated the URL's)
Now what isn't mentioned is where are these parts for the engines made?? As to the "Made in America" statement, most everything now days are made from items from all over the world! and just assembled somewhere else either do to labor cost and/or the need for a certain badge like "Made in America"!
Now as for made in Japan, one might be surprised in what foreign made items which are really made in the USA or just the opposite, what national branded items which are made overseas or outside on the borders of the US of A.)

Many, many Polaris engines have been built in the USA. There were 2 plants in '96. One was a Polaris engine plant, he other a joint Fuji/Polaris venture. The other engines, stamped Fuji were all from across the pond.
