AWD LIGHT
#1
While riding in the snow today, I noticed that the AWD light kept going out. It also would go out of AWD when the light went out. I would have to stop, shift into netural and back into gear for it to go on again. Anyone have any ideas? The light will also go back on by itself while riding but I would worry that it would come on while the rear wheels have lost traction and really mess something up.

well is your AWD the type that has a push buttom instead of a slide? If so...this switch has had many problems, my friends Xplorer 300 would not go into AWD due to this faulty switch....that is why Polaris switched to teh tellow slide switch rather than the red push-in type button. I dont know what to do to help you, you might want to consult a dealer, and ask him how to fix it, or if there is a differnt type of switch to use to make a good connection, or a replavement AWD switch, it would work, but it may go out liek the previous one, unless that did a type of recall that fix the switch but kept the same switch

Yes your swithch could be bad but given your discription it is more likly that your gear shifter is slightly out of adjustment. If your trans is not fully in gear the awd system will since that it is in neutrul and not engage the awd.
I wish I could tell you how to adjust it but Im I havent done it before so I'll leave that to the better informed.

AWD Light ... what a pain.
Mine acts up from time to time. I take it apart (button type) and clean up the contacts. Nothing scarey inside.
I also have to adjust my shifter. There is a rod with a Tie Rod End on each end. It looks like all we will have to do is let it go, loosen the luck nut and turn the TRE thereby adjusting the throw of the lever. I have not tried it but that is how it looks.
