I have been looking at a used 1998 sportsman, non-ebs (i think, how can i tell for sure?). Anyway, with 850 miles, how likely is it that the original brakes are shot? They did not sound good when i squeezed the handle brake, it even seemed to cause the wheels to drag even after i released it. How much will it cost to have the polaris dealer replace pads and tune?

Also, it is making a strange noise that seems to come from the pull start mechanism, almost as if you are pulling on the rope when it is running. Sometimes it goes away when shifted into gear, sometimes not. Any ideas?
