I heard they are nicisil cylinders. There is actually no water jacket between the cylinders, that’s how close they are. They call these siamese cylinders. The motor is built to be very small, but still maintain high power levels. Look for stuff on the website next week. There will be pictures and all.

740 POUNDS! That sucks! I sure hope you are wrong about that one! All of the Polaris models are too heavy NOW! More weight means worse handling and more wear on parts. Thats also 135 lbs heavier than a Kawi 650. HELLO!!! I sure hope Polaris reads these forums and has built a light Sp700 and that the claimed 740 lb is just something that you made up. I have heard that it will have a generation 5 chassis which hopefully will be lighter. I will never buy a 740lb quad. Thats insane! I think my next quad will be a Kawi 650 if that claim is right. There is no way that a machine that weighs 135 lbs more with only 50 extra cc's can be faster, more nimble, and more reliable! YOU BETTER BE MAKING THAT STUFF UP!

The weight of this PIG just blows me away.I got rid of my 99 Sportsman because it was a fat a**.Big deal,so now they give us a undersized Jeep.If I wanted a jeep,I'd of bought one.

Give me a Sportsman with this new engine and all its other goodies and keep the damn thing UNDER 650lbs.I allready rode tested the new 660 Grizz, and I hate to say it,but I will probably be buying the new Grizz if this weight thing is correct.

I dont know about that weight thing but it is a fact that the Sportsman 700 IS faster both on speed and take-off, has more torque, Rides WAY nicer, and handles easier than any other machine like the grizzly, etc... These are real fact, I am not lying here, just ask anyone who works at Polaris.

I haven't heard "exact" numbers on hp/torque, but the 700 has a 20% increase in HP and a 25% increase in torque over the HO.

Scottaboshia,
As far as Polaris's claim that you mentioned above, that's quite a statement! I'm not doubting it, but they work for Polaris and I'm sure there pumped about this bike.

I am not impressed at all with the 20% hp and 25% torque increase over the HO. I raced an HO with my decked out Magnum 500 and the difference was minimal at best. And the fact that the Sp700 claimed weight of 740 lbs will only use up some of that newly found hp and torque. I am losing faith in Polaris now, but I will wait til it arrives and see who is telling the truth and who is not.

Scottabosia,
not to be disrespectful or anything, but a Jeep also has more speed and torque and top end than any other 4x4 ATV to.Lets keep this PIG Sportsmans weight DOWN and than we can do some ACTUAL comparing.Nobody gives a damn how fast or how much torque the new Sportsman has if its going to weigh 740lbs.Ask anyone in here with REAL 4x4 ATVing experience,WE DONT WANT A 4x4 ATV THAT WEIGHS 740lbs!

Polaris''can you hear us?''

I heard just last night from the local Polaris shop owner that the new 700 will be out in a week or two. He had just spoken to the Northwest dealer rep yesterday and the rep said it would be out in a week or so. It does weigh in at a hefty 740 pounds+ . That seems a bit excessive, but you know Polaris.
