Mechanic just put a 160 main jet in 99 scrambler 400 with RCR kit, is he way off for 8000 feet?

Hello, I sold my 1999 Scrambler 400 with an RCR stage one kit to my brother-in-law a few months ago. After the RCR kit, I paid my mechanic (very well respected guy) to jet it, and he ended up with a 220 main, 35 pilot, and needle clip in the third position up (I'm at 8000 feet). It ran fine, but was rich at 10,000-11,000 feet). My brother-in-law didn't know I had it jetted, took it to a different mechanic who put in a 160 MAIN ! The machanic said that he puts that in all the 400's at this altitude. Is he way off? We're leaving for a 10 day trip tomorrow at 10,000-12,000 feet altitude? Is any one runing a main that small, or even close? I can't stand the thought of him seizing the engine...His mechanic also cleaned the Uni foam filter and didn't oil it (makes you wonder).
Thanks,
Lorrin Lee
