Mudding Maintence 99xplor

Latley I have been doing alot of mud ridding in really thick crap. The main things i do are clean radiator, brakes, chain, check filter, grease zerks and thats about it, I don't go in any mud past the seat. What if stuff gets in the breather lines, where does it go from there? will c-foam help at all for this. Thanks and let me know what else to maintain on my xplor400 1999

When you are done riding, preferrably before the mud dries on, rinse off the chain, brake calipers, and disks (in addition to what you already do). A garden hose is good enough. Grease it & lube the chain AFTER the water is COMPLETELY dried off. If you know you are going to be headed into mud, lubing the chain before you start the ride will make it easier to clean off.
Check the hub oil and counterbalance oil fairly often for signs of water getting in the oil (turns it kind of milky & slimy). If you find traces of water, drain the oil, re-fill, ride around a while, and change it again. The counterbalance can suck water in through the breather, but if water gets in the hubs it is usually a seal going bad.
