you should look for a good kawasaki mule, it is durable, and can carry everything.if you dont know what a mule is,k it is a miniture truck that is made for what you want to do. we carry wood in ours for hour camp in the woods. The down side is it is alot of money.also there is a kawasaki prarie.

Jiminy Christmas, $21995 for a quad!!!

You would be better off buying a small 4X4 like an old jeep or landcruiser. With the money you save you could rebuild it from the ground up with mail order parts.
An old CJ3 isnt much wider than a quad, and could cary more load.
Sounds like you have a supply and demand problem that is going to more or less make the decision for you.

Good luck with whatever you get.

We have all kind of vehicles for difficult terrain, one is http://www.reformwerke.at/englisch/unserprogramm_en.htm

but it is too heavy and too wide for the trail up to my cabin. I own a medium 4X4 truck (almost same than Toyota Tacoma) but it is still too big and heavy to make the way. It starts to dig into the ground when the wheels start spinning and I have no chance to go through the narrow serpentines.

The Kawa-Mule isnt available at all, so I have just two ways to transport any stuff up there: Renting a heli which probably costs me even more than an ATV or to buy an ATV which is light-weight and strong enough to carry small portions of building-material up there. Well, maybe I should watch out for a Donkey, ha?

Well, if you guys are shocked about prices: My 2000 Pickup was 60 K and used ones arent available at all.

If you want to expierience a real expensive country: Go to Norway or to Iceland: A pint of beer is between 10 ans 18 bucks and in the North, one apple costs between 3 and 6 bucks. A Hot-Dog for 11 bucks is already quite a good deal. The mustard is free of charge ;-)

A Fullsize truck is very hard to get on the grey - market and costs new more than 100 K. A common house (no luxury) is between 500 and 700 K in the province and 900K to 1700 K in a city like Munich. You must save between 400 and 600 years or so to be able to make the first down- payment. Interests and bankers will bother you the rest of your life.....no chance to own it one day.

So, now you guys got the answer to the big question why europe has a real big problem to speed up its economy.

Europe is beautiful but hard to match the wide open spaces we have in the USA (not to mention the 2nd Amendment! right to bear arms). I have been all over Bavaria and Norther Austria. Beautiful and CLEAN! Friendly folks, great food and beer but very expensive! I own a Sportsman 500 and love it. I have had Polaris quads for the last eight years and they have been bulet proof. Would highly recomend Polaris machines.

Yeah, you re right. What I miss most since I came back to Europe is the wide open space as you mentioned. The open space is just left in certain parts of spain and the far north of Scandinavia.

But nothing compared to the space you guys still have left over there.

Makes me jeaolous at least 7 times a week ;-)

I have a friend that came over from Paris, France and he said that he had never even SEEN a 4-wheeler or snowmobile before coming here.

Gee, what would I ever do?

I would say definatly a Honda. Stay away from that 2 stroke stuff. Also those russian ATV's Stay as far away from those crazy F'd up things as you can. Alls they are is modified motorcycles with 2 extrz wheels , any japanese quad would be better then those ! even polaris!J/K A foreman 450S 4X4 would be a good rig for what your doing , or even a TRX300 4x4 would be good they were made for pulling and hauling stuff around + you can get a smal trailor and haul even more. Also I am DAMN happy I don't live where you do! WE get 4 times more gas for half the price !! Good luck with whatever you get for an ATV. Zeebo

PS what the hell is this ß ? you put it in your first post and I was just wondering what the hell it was ?

Well the best Atv out is which ever one you decided to put your hard earned money on.
So if you bought it this must be the machine that suites your needs the best.

So if your quest is to find the perfect Atv well it has never been invented...... nor will it ever be
