Ok, I'm going to rant and you can feel free to respond however you please. I'm just getting a little tired of seeing these posts from riders (I'm guessing young riders) that expect thier quads to be truly indestructable.

"Does your entire bike vibrate when you're doing 30 mph in low range?" What are you even doing riding it that fast in low?

"I rolled my quad and now my steering bracket is bent. Why did they make such a heavy bike and such a wimpy bracket?" If that bracket was meant to hold the weight of you quad it wouldn't be a steering bracket, it would be part of you suspension.

"I was out riding today and hit head on with a honda recon and totalled my front bumper bent the radiator and popped the tire off the rim. the recon had a small dent. polaris needs to make there bumpers stronger." They don't need a stronger bumper, somebody needs to not be riding out of control and getting into head-on collisions.

Am I the only one that thinks each of these three accounts (and some others in the forum) are a bit much? It's no wonder there are so many posts about how bad the Polaris' are. Look at what you are doing to them. It's not that they aren't mechanically sound, it's that they are being totally abused and expected to come out of it unscathed. I ride my wheelers hard. I do have some fixes required at times. But I don't come on here crying about it because I know the bike didn't fail me, I broke it! Although mine seldom break down because I don't abuse them. And over time, hard riding will take it's toll on any quad. Especially a quad not well taken care of. Even the all mighty Hondas have their bad days when ridden hard. My point is, be reasonable. Metals bend, plastics break. Don't blame the quad for what YOU cause. If you're going to abuse your quad, expect damage! I'd also like to suggest that some of these individuals need to wear thier helmets more often. While on and off thier quads...

I know exactly what you mean. It seems some people either beat thier quads to death, or do not keep up with the maintenance. Or maybe both. And then they blame the ATV. Here is a signature from another member:

2001 brand new yellow 400ex withon the way white brothers pipe!!!

past rides=2001 polaris trailblazer/broken swing arm oil tank bent in front tire broken tire rods bent up frame flooded carb/thats polaris craftsmanship!! sold

Now tell me how a 2001 atv, be it a Polaris or not, could end up in that kind of condition. It almost sounds like it rolled out of his truck on the highway or something. I have NEVER seen an ATV in that shape from normal use. But of course this is the manufauters fault, not the users.

It's not just you! I sit back and laugh at some of the stupid things i've seen on here. The one about the steering bracket cracked me up, I told my wife as I was reading it ,that I guessed if the guy rolled his truck he would be pissed that the roof caved in!!I think these people have to realize there is alot of preventive maintenance on an atv (ALL OF THEM) even when they are ridden corectly. ALSO, Polaris advertises a sports quad, not a mx racer. And a utility quad, not a mud bogging, wheelie poping, top fuel dragster. I guess what I am saying is that they all do a good job at what they are designed for. I've got a 2000 2500 chevy 4x4, but I'm not going to go out and look for a deep, sloppy bottomless mud pit to run through. I'll go around all of those that i can!

I am also fed up with some of the sarcastic,,ignorant, and negative connotation (sp?) posts. It's human nature to avoid personal blame by focusing blame on another entity, but more often the intent is to pick a fight.

For some of us, the fastest quad, the best jumping quad, the best 4x4, has no meaning, and leaves little impression. I have spent 10k in the last year on my quad, between repairs, mods, trailer, insurance, protective wear, and trip expenses. This is my 10k, and I will spend it as I want to.

I purchased what I wanted. Not what suited somebody else. What I wanted. It's my decision ultimately on what I want to purchase, and only I am to b e content or disapointed with my decision. Others may share their experiences and their knowledge, which I totally appreciate.

Maybe i should invest my 10k for a downpayment on a new truck. Then I would be one less person supporting the blue ribbon coalition, or buying stuff like helmets, radios, chains, tires, etc....See how your fastest quad and baddest quad looks when the only land you can ride on is yours. Your quad looks real good if you have a 1/4 acre yard, and lasts longer if your top speed is 10mph sharing your riding area with your dog.

Unfortunately, it seems instead of constructively sharing information, whether it's for or against, it becomes an attack on ones character. It's very dis-respectful to keep having these posts, when one could be writing in support of their sport, or helping with creating trails or their local club.

If a quad becomes damaged due to ANY accident, it's not really important that the "cheap polaris steering stem bent". More important is that you should have been able to avoid such an occurence. Let's face it, Dale Earnhardt didn't die because his car was manufactured by a poor company, but he hit a wall.

I used to be in quads about 10 years ago. I can remember when the 250R ceased production, and the top machine was a banshee, and a honda 250X..Wow...Dirt Wheels did a report on a 250R with independent rear, and called it a miracle in loose dirt, and the Mojave was a high tech machine. Now we have Arctic Cat, Polaris, Bombardier, and Cannondale. A lot of sweat was spent by these companies to promote this sport, and without them you would still have the Banshee, 250/300X, and the Mojave. Automatic trany, electric start, and true 4x4 would NOT be here.

The open marketplace has forced Yamaha, Honda, and Kawasaki to create machines such as the Raptor, Prairie 650, and the 400ex.

So, keep on bashing....you could have the Raptor today, or the Warrior of yesterday.

i totally agree with this post,
i have a freind who his fathwer bought him a 2000 sp500,
they didnt break it in, and they never drove a quad before, they beat on it, and no wonder it went to the shop 4 times,
then the idiots went up a hill with both of them (brothers) on the quad, it fliped, totallted, and coast 1100 to fix,
i told the idiots to not even go up the hill at the dump,
and the ignorant younger brother now says "the quad cant flip, unless he is driving it" i told him thats the attitude that got you guys in that crash,
they are the worst driver, trying to cut ME off on the trail, stopping dead short in front of us when we are flying on a dirt road to point out a gofer (by we i mean me and my friend on his bayou 220)
they call his quad a POS even though it has never broekn and goes every where we go, he is a good driver,,
i respect my machine, and take the nesicary precautions, like when im riding on an already nasty trail, then there is a moderatly steep incline with rocks sticking out,
i dont hit the gass, i but it in 4x4 , lean on the front, and power over it,
i greese the fittings every few weeks,
i run it on premium fuel onnly, i buy 21$ polaris oil, i always make sure my riding partners are safe when they are behind me, and i dont ride there *** when they are in front

but i dont appreachiate all the crap about younger drivers,
i just turned 16, and every post like this i see says somthing like "...... probavly the younger drivers, " or "dumb teens"
so direct your comments more directly and say the ignorant ***'s who ride wrecklessly and watch the WWF

Yes. A lot of the problems that occur to machines can easily be prevented. It's just that people are too lazy and don't want to. When something happens because of thier laziness, they blame the machine and the people that made it for not being good enough. It even sates in the owners manual all of the proper care and matinence. And reckless drivers, no wonder thier machines don't last, look how they take a machine and drive it like it was never ment to be. No wonder things break!

Yes I spent $7000.00 on a new 2002 sportsman H.O. What did I get? Year around use. with normal mantance just like every other thing I have had (cars, trucks, harley, boats, wife and most of all KIDS). When I shut my Scrab down to fast one night on the lake water backed in the heads, trashed two H.O. motors $15,000. Ill take a tie rod or any other repair any day.I had a sled I paid $7000.00 for and only used it 2 months a year.I think my Sportsman was a deal when I look at every thing eles in my life.
