HEY SCAREYFAST..... It is me.... the guy who wrote the thread about the steering bracket. First of all, i am no kid. Second of all you can flex that piece of metal that holds the steering rod just by putting a little pressure on the handle bars. It is very light weight. Now if you read all the posts you would know that i am very "PRO-POLARIS". I think they make an excellent quad. But..... why WELD in a piece of metal that is sure to need replacing. You think neglect is the only way a quad is damaged? Ever heard of ACCIDENTS? Just like others, i was only seeing if anyone else has encountered the same problems. BUT NOT IN YOUR EYES!! HEY HONEY-- LOOK-- THIS GUY IS SO STUPID. IT MUST BE SOME KID WHO IS TYING TO GIVE POLARIS A BAD RAP.
Thats ok though. To each his own. Just don't assume that everyone is out damage polaris' rep.

I definitely agree that some people expect the world out of their quad without doing any maintenance on it whatsoever. I get a kick out of people trying to explain how they broke something doing something that was totally going to break something anyway.

I have come down hard on Polaris in the past but for things that should never have happened such as:
Plastic steering post bearing
swing arm bolts coming loose during riding
tierod ends
having to vent the gas cap to prevent "tank lock" on a stock bike

and most of these things polaris addressed in the new models, and that is what I do like about Polaris. I am no spring chicken but I do laugh at some of the posts especially the grammer and spelling. What would riding be without a hillbilly to laugh at from time to time.

I have to agree with AKscrambler...My dealer told me of some kids that bought Scramblers and were bitching about how bad they were...they brought them back in bashed up and broken....they said "We are going to buy really quads "....the dealership said they bought Raptors and that right now they looked just as bad as the scrams did....its all in how you treat your machine.....Take Care Of Your Baby........God Bless that Andrew Thomas....what a saint....

This is for RockRock004, 1.) I did not call you a kid 2.) I did not call you pro-polaris 3.)I did not say neglect was the only way to damage a quad 4.) I did not call you stupid ( until I seen this response ). 5.) I did not accuse you of giveing polaris a bad rap 6.) AND I DID NOT ASSUME ANYTHING!

There's a lot of enjoyment from an ATV. But the very first purchase someone should make is a maintenance manual. If you aren't mechanically inclined, feel free to post questions, and I think a vast majority of people who visit here will be glad to help you. I have the $45-50 Polaris manual, and I've almost worn it out. My '99 Sport mostly sees hard trail riding, although I did venture through a season of harescrambles. I'm always "pre-flighting" it, cleaning it, modifying it. It's a hobby ( girlfriend calls it an obsession), sure I've broken and bent some things, but I expect that. I guess the one that sticks in my mind was a guy who was ripping on Polaris, and saying how he even lost his seat....The machines, no matter what make ( sure we have our fave's) but without each of them competing against each other for our funds, we'd all still be ridding Bigwheels. Pick your brand of choice, but keep the smashes and bashes on the trails with inanimate objects, not each other. And PLEASE, PLEASE, put a little TLC into that machine once in a while.

KT somebody give me an Amen!

Jet mechanics have more thrust....and the do their pre-flights too!!

OK scareyfast... there you go with the name calling again. Your right, you did not mention kid. That just seems to the theme of this thread--- kid buys quad, kid abuses quad, kid gripes about quad. And that is true to an extent. Hey--- lets just forget about it!! How's lake Tawakoni? I lived in Abilene for 18yrs. We used to go to that lake a lot. May go to Ft. Worth to visit relatives. Can you tell me a good place to ride out that way?
