if it does come out i think it'll suck. it'll be like having a quad with 2 yamaha warrior engines (if they use the engine from the sportsman 700 which is about 350cc per cylender with 2 vavles and pushrods just like a warrior.) and twice as heavy. hahaha. sorry polaris guys i don't like to bash but if a 700 scrambler came out i think it would suck.

 

Scottaboshia...I'm not asking for someone to make me a believer just hoping to get any type of conformation. I'm sorry to say that I'm not going to take anything to the bank in regards to a rumor. I would like to see an update to the Scram and it has been overdue. The dealer I was speaking to seams to be genuine in what he was telling me but had absolutely no time frame for a possible release. I know the 700 was on the board for a good while. The fact that he was very sure about the motor being a in-line twin got me thinking that this should mean major changes to the overall unit.
Again if any of you that are on the inside of Polaris has anything on this I sure would appreciate some info.

 

Hey biggie. What do you think of the 2002 Z06 Corvette? 406 HP from an "outdated pushrod motor"? Gee, maybe if they put an overhead cam on it, it would have lots of power, kind of like a wimpy OHC Mustang. Sorry to get away from the ATV talk, but the point needs to be made!!!

 

How about a 700 3-cylinder two stroke?that would not be heavy nor slow- food for thought

 

I've heard rumors about the scrambler 700 too but i think polaris will release there rumored 600 single cylinder sport quad with a 5 speed manual clutch before they make a scrambler 700 but a scrambler 700 would be easy to make because they already have the motor all the would have to do is make a new frame although the new sportsman 700 seems to only have a modified gen 4 frame, the difference appear to be a new rad grill, bumper, larger rad, seperate transmission and diff (the sportsman 500 had a one piece differential and transmission), and some reinforcements in tactical locations so if polaris did make a scrambler 700 it would probably be the old scrambler frame modified to fit the 700 motor which translates to boring.....it would be a fast quad but all the complaints with the scrambler 500 would not be addressed. I think the 600 high performance quad from polaris would be worth waiting for, polaris can build good high performance machines if they choose to.....look at their performance snowmobiles, there awesome.. i have a polaris 2001 600 pro-x and i love it, polaris has alot of potentiol in the sport market of quads

I think you have made a very good point about pushrod engines . You are absolutely correct .

 

Pushrods = torque.

I dunno about you guys, but I certainly have no problem with a little extra torque, especially in a 4WD sport-ish chassis. The fact that its a twin makes up for the pushrod design's inherent lack of horsepower.

Again, tell me... what's wrong with a 700cc pushrod twin?

There is only about a $35,000 difference between the two cars. They are both sports cars but two different types of sports cars.

Compare a Nissan Skyline to the Corvette the see who is outdated.
I think the skyline has a 4cyl, DOHC, twin turbo, AWD, and sells for about the same price as a ZO6

I'll save my money and drive my Mustang.

Sorry to get off the quad subject. Remember apples to apples and oranges to oranges. Compare like things.
