PADZZ- He was hauling that 700 in the back of a 2wd new model silverado. Basically the same truck as the Z71 you have listed only not 4wd. It didn't squat it too bad really at all.

I didn't measure the clearance or anything, but by eyeballing it and already knowing what the Grizzly has, I'd say maybe 11" up front, and probably 13-14" in the ***. The front was taller than an HO I think and the rear was taller than anything I've seen before. Dude was up there, and keep in mind these were stock tires. A set of Zillas or Outlaws and you would be ducking power lines.

My 28 Mudzillas should bolt right up. I think the mud races are going to be ugly this year. lol

thanks andy,

Do you know how long of range it has?? im worried with a smaller tank (4.75gal), and a much bigger motor, that the range will be short.

also does it have a fuel gage in the new instrument gage??

if its as tall as you say then i would hope it would be wider so it wouldent be "tippy".

"ducking the power lines" is what ill be doing soon

that bigger battey will come in handy, ill bet the warn #2500 would struggle to pull it out. But with thoes tires and that GC it wont get stuck!!! LOL

No tippy feel really at all. It doesn't feel real tall, it just has good clearance. From the outside, it looks like a different color HO, but its on a different platform. Its not wide or too narrow either. Like I said, I didn't take it anywhere to really test things out, but I kept in mind things like sidehill stability, engine braking, and handling at all times, and compare them to how my Grizzly feels in the same spots. I couldn't find any negatives. I guess its just a feel thing or something. I've ridden here tons of times just clowning around for 10 minutes or so when I'm bored so I know how the Grizz feels. I tried to see any difference and I couldn't find a thing. I don't doubt the 700's ability to go in actual rough places. It was a very nice quad.

As for a fuel guage, I didn't even look. It has a big battery though. Biggest one I've ever seen in a quad. The key ignition was pretty cool too. It freaked me out.

Did it seem as quick and light as the 660 grizz does. Was there anything you like better on the grizz compared too the sportsman. Im just interested these seem they are both nice machines.

Lets see. I like the display and all better. 4wd capabilities are out of the question either way, because both can make all 4 pull and thats fine. Same with the 650, I don't care how it does it, just as long as it does. Steering on the big 700 seemed as light as the Grizz so thats out. I think the 660 bucks you around more driving fast over bumpy fields and stuff, but I think the lighter weight makes it more manueverable in tight spots. Not driving, just if you have to waller it around by hand to get it moved. Thats one thing. Also, I think if the 660 flipped, I would have a lot better chance of being able to catch it than I would the Polaris. Other than that, I'd really have to look hard to find something that I liked better on the grizz. The racks I guess. I'm not big on the plastic racks still. Styling of course, which doesn't really mean a lot. And the feel of the thumb throttle I like better on the yamaha but thats getting rather picky. I also like the double a-arm setup.

As far as performance, the polaris seems to be able to do everything the yamaha can and edges it in a few things that I feel are pretty important. Rear wheel articulation being the main one. The yamaha IRS is a freakin joke.

padzz, your 1500 series truck (2001 z-71) should be rated for nearly 1500lbs in the bed. 800# in your 1500 should barly be noticable.

I would like to know if it has 4 wheel engine braking, and if it does, is it a limited slip in the front or locked. If the front end is locked while providing engine braking, that would be dangerous in my opinion. If it is limited slip, I would like understand how this can be accomplished with the existing system. It has been explained to me that the same locking mechanism that was in the hubs has been moved to the front differential. If so, it would be a true lock going forward, but wouldn't it also be a full lock if they managed to somohow provide engine braking with this system.

If anyone really understands how the front end in this bike actually works, I would appreciate the info.

If the bike does not provide 4 wheel engine braking, it will be at a disadvantage to the grizzly in the mountains.
