greg,

my guess is that the 4 wheel engine braking works when in 4wd. in 2wd you only have 2 wheel engine braking. this is just a guess though.

The current Sportsman only has 2 wheel engine braking, even when in 4WD... if the SP700 uses the same system with the locking mechanism in the differential, why would the 700 have 4 wheel engine braking when in 4WD.

I don't think the 700 has the same 4wd setup as the 500, but I could be dead wrong. Something is different I think, but I don't know what.

So then, you are saying that it still doesn't have 4 wheel engine braking while going down hill? If that's the real deal, I can see it as NOT being a real big seller in the mountain states. The scariest part of riding a Polaris down a long hill with loose soil is the lack of 4 wheel engine braking.

This just my .02

yes, according to my rep, which actually helped build the things, and knew everything about them, it is still 2 wheel EBS, which was the ONLY feature that I thought the quad was lacking in.
Another interesting note, he said that this quad has been ready for nearly 3 years and in waiting. He said that they could not justifyably put out a 700cc twin when their SP500s were the top overall performing bikes on the market.
