i'm into the process to convert my '99 4x4 scrambler 400 into a 2x4 (want more top speed),does anyone known if they have any differences between the 4x4 and the 2x4 gear/case tranny?thanks.

You are going through a whole lot of trouble for little gain. You can build the scrambler and the sport engine and clutch the same. Take off your front drive shaft, install 14/30 gears, a tall set of tires aired up to the max, and, if you have enough engine to pull them, you will have just about all the top speed your bike is capable of.

this is not roubles for me man,i've removed my 4x4 yet and the gains is impressive,quicker acceleration as well,more top speed,faster engine response,better handling (especially in front),better performance feeling that it.i plan to change the transmission to get the right gearing and save another pound+.when those 400 2 stroke are REALLY lightens to save weight along with few mods,they kick *** all high performance quads on the market,it simple...
