A question for everyone that rides
#1
I have made my stand many times about the bashing issue and the lack of responsibility that I believe those of you do the crying are bringing to our sport. I'm curious to see just how many of us on this board belong to a riding club or group that is active in representing our sport. I would think that by posting on this forum and activly participating that would mean you have more than a passing interest in ATVing.
How many of you belong to a riding club or a group like the Blue Ribbon Coalition that works for our riding rights or tries to obtain land or riding areas?
For the record I am in the process of looking for a club in Pa to join (I didnt want to seem like a hypocrite when someone asked me the question later). If any of you are from central Pa and know of any club I would appreciate any info that you can pass on. I've been told of a group called KORR that is located in central Pa, anybody have any feedback about this group?

I belong to the Michigan All Terrain Vehicle Assoc and the Cycle Conservation Club of Michigan.Im also a licensed ATV Safety Instructor that teaches the safe and responsable use of ATVs to all ages, especailly the under 16yr old group.I do trail maintenance as well.
I agree with you, more riders need to involve themselves with more ATV related issues for our sport to survive.
Keep up your good work,we riders need you,

I would like to join or be apart of any type atv club.
Our not so much problem, but is a problem, were are they.
I've red a thread about unity, and staying together in comparisonce to the NRA.
Well if you have never noticed, you don't have to look for the NRA.
I believe if you had a lagit atv club you would have no problem finding members.
Now don't get me wrong I would be willing to bet that alot of poeple do belong to clubs, but I also believe thier area bike shops have alot to do with it.
I live in a town of 104,000 poeple. and gues what, one bike shop, realy one bike shop. And if you ride a suzuki, hope you have plenty of gas money because the closest one is about a little over an hour away.
If you live in an area with many to choose from the compatition and alternative sales ideas are the motavating factor on these clubs.
I do believe you are rite that we should all sapport are clubs. But I also believe that an indapendent club or assotiation should be the rought.
Who do you think runs the NRA, NOT winchester!!!!!!!!!!

I guess that the 50 or so hits and only 2 responses answers my question. I thought I would get a yes or no answer from some people at least. This surprises me a bit that there arent a few more people out there that do belong to ATV clubs. Maybe I should ask the question of why dont many of you belong to clubs? None available or no interest? I hope I get some reply.

I belong to the Sierra Nevada ATV club. We have a few sponsors and ride in several different locals. My job on race night is to line up the riders and also flag. My son does the racing, I the wrenching. Its a blast. We have TT events here in my town. The other towns have MX and enduro style rides. It is a ton of fun. If anybody wants to see the websight its:, WWW.SNATV.COM
This is a very small upstart club but its very rapidly growing.
As for bashing, all I have seen is when the Honda boys come over here. I have not seen any Polaris on Polaris bashing, so maybe the best place for this poll is on another manufacture sight. Just my .02 worth.

I can answer the questoin of why I don't belong to an atv club. Here in Illinois we have way to many liberal yahoos who not only want to close all public land to ATV's but also to bikers (bicycles that is) and even hikers. At one time we had a beautiful place in southern Illinois to ride and some one discovered ( or made up) that some type of tree moss grows only there and now where else. So after some debate and money shuffling they got the park closed to all motorized vehicles. They still allow the horses (which do more damage than atv's ever did) but they are trying to eleminate them also, along with the bicycle and hikers. It's Crazy!
We have a 1000 acre farm that has a river running through it and about 500 acres of woods so we almost exclusively ride there, if we didn't have it I wouldn't own an atv.
I hope that answers your questoin, for me anyway, one guy from Illinois. One of our local dealers does pay attention to what's going on and keeps us informed on when we are loosing more rights and which politician to write to and complain and I do but, I don't know if it helps or not.
To all of those of you who have public riding areas BE THANKFULL!!

Thanks for the replies. PolarisDood I thought about posting this in a different section but it seems that we (polaris) get a lot of traffic in here from the other Manufacturers sections.
Soggy have you had any success as of yet trying to get any riding areas to consider allowing your use if you keep the trails maintained?

I belong to ATVAM (ATV Assoc. of Minnesota) and the Over the Hills Gang ATV club. Bigwave, I'm sorry, but if you DON'T organize, the "conservationists" who ARE organized WILL shut you down. I'm going on a giant soapbox now.
A husband, and father of two boys, was killed this last week. An oncoming car struck a deer and launched it over and through his windshield, killing him instantly. His wife was next to him, and his two sons were in the back seat. The boys are having a tough time with this.
If we didn't use the outdoors, or should I say Manage the outdoors,
nature would be suffering from starvation and disease.....they say don't shoot the deer, eat vegetables. A long slow death from disease and starvation, is that humane?
Big tangent there sorry....Organize with ATV clubs, snowmobile clubs(respect their trails in winter), motorcycle clubs, and 4x4 clubs. United we are a very strong and powerful voice. Protect nature from damaging industrial practices, not from people being able to use it in whatever activity they choose. I just did some trail riding in mid-Minnesota this last weekend....shared the trails with some horseback riders. We can all use this great country together. These people are the same ones who don't want a retaliation for the World Trade Centers. Their only ambition in life is to protest, they don't have enough mental capacity to actually go outside and have some fun. Enjoy this great country, the Earth has and enormous capacity to repair itself. I won't live in a bubble!!!!!
