Has any one done rotors yet? looks like gravel got between the pad and rotors on both front pads. I dont see how but that is what it looks like.
How many beers does this project take?

It's a no brainer. Take off wheels, take off calipers, then take off rotors, then there is four or five bolts holding them on. It should take a half hour a side, or about eight beers back in my drinking days.

I switched to the HPD rotors, and liked the difference. I would send you my stockers for the shipping, but it would probably cost more to get them to Washington than it would for new HPDs.

I replaced them on my Explorer. It is just as easy as Quadfather said. I got my rotors from the dealer and they were the sloted rotors.

soggyrider,

Get the 2002 Polaris ATV catalog.........the one listing all models (except 700), and accessories. There is a special upgrade kit offered by polaris for the 2001 style rotors and pads. The rotors are supposed to be harder, as well as the pads, and the upgrade kit (includes rotors, pads, and bolts with locking agent on them for the whole bike) costs about $100. I've got a 2001 Xplorer with the upgraded rotors and pads from the factory, but am thinking about ordering a spare set at a good price like that. If you want the part number and exact pricing, let me know, and I'll see if I can get it to you today after lunch (don't have my catalog with me).

I guess I shoulld have looked at my service manual and parts manual beforeI posted this
Quadfather your right it does look like a no brainer.
What did you pay for the hpd rotors? just to compare the cost between them and the H/D polaris rotors. I am sure neither will get here before opening day so I guess I may have to ride on the old ones. Our polaris dealer takes a lifetime to get your parts. And I refuse to pack another deer out on foot
Thanks for the info guys

I believe the HPD rotors were $24.95, you can check them out at HPD-inc.com

Well the hpd rotors will not work. I checked them out and they don't have the notches for the pulse sensor for the speedo. I did call on the h/d kit from polaris, and it is $99.75 for the 3 rotors and pads. I think that is what I will be getting. HSP wants $69 each for their front rotors.
Thanks again for the info.
