Since you two seem to have so much information on the new Polaris model, maybe you can find out where Polaris will put that special "Polaris Gremlin" part that seems to always find its way into there machines. In my 98, it is the crappy tie rod ends. On my 2000, they fixed the tie rod ends, so they decided that plastic steering bushings would be a great idea. If you could find out all of the cheap parts in advance, you could make a fortune selling the improved aftermarket parts. Sorry about my ranting, I still haven't gotten over that darn steering bushing problem.
As for "waiting for the new Polaris sport model", I have been a member of this forum for two years and someone is always in here telling about the new sport machine Polaris is coming out with. I do believe that you guys are telling the truth, since it seems to be backed up with articles by some big magazines. But I couldn't see waiting till the fall of 2002 for it to come out and then waiting another year for Polaris to fix all of the design weaknesses that it will have. I bought a 400ex this past spring and couldn't be happier. I ride it 10 times harder than my wife rides her trailboss, and the steering is still rock hard, whereas the trailboss has about 1/2 inch of play after replacing the steering bushing (about 1 1/2 before). I like to believe in the great north star, but until they get some engineers that have a clue about atvs and stop trying to adapt snowmobile designs to atvs, I will not buy another one.

I feel your pain. Patience is a tough thing. They've tested the chassis extensively, and the engine is right on also. It may come a little sooner than the fall, but they want to make it spot on performance. The 400EX is a nice machine, but looking in my crystal snowball, I can see you wanting a change.......

I asked my dealer and he said the same thing a manual shift, lightweight frame design, and 4 stroke. But he said there might be a limited run of 400 2-strokes. Polaris likes its special, limited edition models. Just like they did away with the 400 Scrambler 4x4 just to bring it back for a special Blue/yellow Scrambler X model this year. If they do bring out a sport quad with the 400 2-stroke and manual shift I know I will trade in the wifes 220 Bayou on it and she can ride the TBoss.

O.K.,
I'll be the lone skeptic of this group. Let's just say that I'll believe it when I see it. Here's hoping that the machine will have a dual a-arm front suspension and a linkage rear suspension. Here's hoping that it will be light and not handle like a battleship in drydock. Here's hoping that the machine will make enough power to be competetive. It would be nice to have reverse, but at this point in time, anything will be an improvement over the Scrambler series.

It's built. It screams. It handles. Waiting on the cosmetics. Enjoy your current Polaris rides. Save your $$$. Save your skeptical comments. Keep the faith, or I'll be the first one to say "I told you so" as I pass.
I'm done on this topic.....not mad or anything. I'm taking the Modquad out for some riding, to remind myself (and my elbow tendons) how much enjoyment this equipment brings.

They ran the artist's drawing of the quad the same time they ran the drawing of the new Suzuki. We know the Suzuki is coming out, so I'd say there is a Polaris machine on the way.
I remember when I bought my Sport in '99. The dealer told me that there would be a new sport quad coming out. These things take time.
