hi there
I recently did some work to my 98 sportsman 500 (steering bushings)
after I got it all back together and started it up-it now idles extremely high. sounds about half throttle-cant even put it in gear without clashing.

The only thing I did different that I know of in regards to the fuel circuit is that I dumped some fuel stabilizer in the tank when I went to refill it.

Any one have any suggestions???

thanks alot
fran

Did you check your throtle cable? See if there could be (maybe) a kink, or try adjusting it.

sounds like you pulled or misplace your throttle cable , when installing the bushings . try and pull on the cable when its running? any differance? if the idle changes you need to reroute that cable !!!! good luck

thanks guys
I found the gas tank had wedged the throttle cable between the frame
I still did need to adjust the cable though(add more freeplay to the thumb trigger) in order to bring the idle down where it finally should be????? I figured once the cable was unkinked that alone should have fixed it? oh well!

thanks again for your responses
