Redjosh,
On the right side, that's chain and sproket side. Remove the snap ring, lock sleeve, and foam seal from the axle. Remove the sprocker hub nut, it's only 8-10 ft./lbs...this is on the right side. Remove the brake caliper (support w/zip tie, or safety wire). Slide the axle assembly out the left side. Forgot one step....loosen the chain. If you totally disassemble the axle, there is a groove on the left side of the axle between the LH splines and the LH axle nut threads. To service the rear hub, you should save hassles, and only disassemble the RH side. The 8-10 ft/lbs of torque on the RH nut need to be augmented w/ Loctite 262. The LH nut is 120ft/lbs= Lots'O'wheaties.

Good Luck,
Ken

If that doesn't work and you still can't get the nut loose. Get a chisel and hammer and put a notch in the nut. Then hit the chisel or punch with a hammer and it will free it up.

Redjosh, with those other components removed w/ the RH wheel and hub removed, you slide the axle out of the carrier on the left side.....I'm going to get on a soapbox now. Please don't take offense Redjosh, but the cost of a service manual is about the same as replacing that pipe-wrench you broke. We are here to help you, but the manual can save you a lot of grief....and $$$$$ More performance parts for your quad!!! Besides that, sometimes the pics in the manuals help put the technical mumbo jumbo in the light. Good luck!!!!

The Polaris website has links to parts manuals online. If you download the one for your machine, it will have exploded diagrams that show you how all the parts fit together.

Still it is no replacement for a service manual.
