I had to do some serious thinking before I ordered my new 700. Like Mike Chero , I was leary of the first year machines. But after I got the details about the 700 I realized that it is a new atv , but the technology has already been tested. The engine is the 800 snow-mobile engine that is sleaved down . the suspension is like the 500's , but the frame is different. There might be a few recalls on the first run, but someone has to be the guinepig. Besides, if nobody bought the first production models , polaris would probably not have a 2003 model 700. also, polaris did'nt rush this design, and I think that's where alot of companies get in trouble ....... trying to rush a new design into production just because someone else has one that's selling better.

I can tell you of another first year success. The 1999 Hayabusa. I bought one. Have not had a single problem with it. I have over 21,000 miles on it now. It was and is the fastest stock production motorcycle in the world..............

I took my 700 on a 80 mile torture trip yesterday. If anything was gonna break, it would have been on this trip. I did everything you can imagine. I went over some big stuff...........The quad never flinched. It handles so much better than the 500. This quad is going down in history as one of the best............

vegasdude,
Mine was built on 9/19/01 so I would assume the recall would also apply to your 700. You should contact your dealer, but I would assume you will be getting the recall notice in the mail. I have not received mine yet but my dealer called to tell me they would be doing the recall since my bike is currently in the shop for other repairs and to just disregard the recall notice when I receive it in the mail.

Man, I'd love to buy an early SP 700. Can you imagine how cool it would be if you got serial # 001 or something. I bet it would be worth some bucks! Kind of like the old muscle cars that have really low serial numbers.

Parts still on back order. Have now lost two weekends of riding plus the ride I was on in Kentucky that I had to cut short by a day due to the leaking water pump. It is too bad that Polaris did not have the foresight to have parts stockpiled to repair parts failures under warranty. This is beginning to get old! 700guy, took my 700 in. It had the 20 amp breaker, now the 700 has the overheat Icon flashing about 40 miles into my trip today.......it started acting like the other quads with the 10 amp breaker........man, I'm confused now.................
