I have seen a track system for quads and it seems very interesting especially for muskeg it floats the the bike above the muck and myer. Although they say you need a 400cc or bigger bike to operate the system. The company is out of Edmonton Alberta Canada and sells for roughly $2000 Canadian maybe a little more not sure. I have seen the product at sportsman shows that we have every March. It also adds the length of the bike like a polaris 6X6 so for navigating around tight obsticles might be interesting. If you need more info let me now and I will see what I can dig up.

Hi Alltoys!

Yes, I would be interested in the track kit from Alberta! I am in Austria, and we do not have anything like that. I thought a track would be great for logging and might give me also the chance to save a snowmobile in some reason.

I would be glad if you could dig out some further info on that.

Rgds to Alta

Hello Martin from Austria

I have'nt called you back untill now as yesterday most businesses were closed with Rememberance Day holiday and I could not get a hold of the trak company. I got a hold of them today and the contact person is Tom Zelenski the name of the company is Hydro Track at 11204 154ST, Edmonton Alberta Canada, and the Phone # is 1-780-451-1808.
So here is the low down. The cost is $3300.00 Canadian and comes in a kit straight bolt on unit. It has a carrier on the back and they recommend that it can hold 50kg/100cc per design of bike, 400cc = 200kg and still have maximum floatation, not bad huh. With the tracks front and back the bike is supposed to handle snow as good as a sled but not as fast as the sled. They even have a track that goes on the front tire interesting Yes. The bike is supposed to stop quiker and go faster in mud, and if the bike gets bogged down (only due to lack of power) just back out of the perdicament. They do recommend a bike of 400cc or larger to run the unit only because on smaller units, the bike can't spin the tires in thick heavy goop.

Hope this helps Martin I will be going down to the dealer probably thursday to take a closer look maybe even buy one. Talk to you again.

Gary

Garry:
Do the guys in Edmonton have a website?

Dave:
Mattracks is probably a bullet-proof system, but did you check the prices?

5500 US$ plus shipping to Europe, plus customs, that costs me two fortunes.

I just wanna a simple system at the rear for better logging, I dont think the Mattracks ATV is to steer without raw power.

Years ago my father bought a set, I forget the brand but were very good quality. The set was constructed like so... Turf tires in front with lag around them. prolly 2 ft wide with 1 and 1/2 inch rubber luggs. Reard were another axle with turftires and lag around another set of turftires on rear. This was on a honda 350 foreman. Had plenty of power in first through third. Would go anywhere!!! but awfully slow. Could climb anything, couldnt tip it over. I remeber climbing pit walls with 2 ft of snow on it.

Hello Martin

I am not sure If Hydro Tracks has a web site I will call in the morning and check.

I saw that system from Mattracks and you are right it is bugger to turn and you can't put any more weight on the unit than what the bike manufacturers recommend. The one from Hydro Tracks uses a belt that goes from the rear wheel back to another axle with wheel and the track surrounds both wheels. Have you seen a Polaris 6X6, the track goes around both tires in the back and the furtherist axle is a dummy, just along for the ride if you will. This system is bolted to the frame of the quad so it is a solid system and very durable. You can put as much as 500kg on the carrier whithout dammage to the unit, they don't recommend it but it has been done. The only problem with too much weight is not enough power from the quad but the carrier will handle the abuse. I have seen pictures where a person is standing in what we call LOON S%$&T which is Muskeg and water, he is standing beside the quad up passed his waist in it and the quad is above his head with 400kg mounted on the carrier.
I will find out more tomorrow for you especially if they have a web site by for now.
