I rememeber reading somewhere that someone had a cop friend clock thier 700 at close to 70mph on the radar gun. Sorry I can't remember the forum I read it on though! I have had my 700 up to 50 so far.

In the January issue of Dirtwheels it has the big bore shootout in it. The shootout was between the quest, kawi 650, grizzly 660, and the sportsman 700. Anyway, in the article I believe it said that all the quads have a top speed of around 76 mph at sea level. I have just purchased my 700 and I am going to get it this weekend, so I can't give you my personal results yet.

Hey guys~
I think 67 sounds very realistic. If they could do 76, I'd be avoiding them with my DS!!lol! I think it's funny how the 700 will go about 67, but some people swear their 500's can go 70! Oh well.

I just think it's funny that people are so concerned with top speeds on these "utility" beasts. I'm not judging, just think it's humorous.

They are times when you're on an open road where it doesn't matter if you have an 1000lbs machine cause their ain't no curves, just smooth packed dirt. That's when my machine is floored and HOPING for 60mph. I love speed myself, yet I love every rough spot out there, every mud hole, every hill climb ect ect... SO , WHO CARES if they are utes, Theres always one place in the ride where YOU CAN ride at 50+ mph with a ute without fearing the lost of control. I'm tired of hearing people says"why would you want to go fast with a UTE???>> well that's my reason!

Thanks

Those <big bore> machines are sport-utility in many cases never used for any work! That's why the speed is important for many riders. There's a great "power feelin'" with those big bores.Plus some Polaris sport machines are almost as heavy as some sport-utes from Kawi or Yamaha.
People like speed and power, that's why we have Lamborghini, Porche,Viper and others on the market. A speed limit is obviously not an issue for those people.
