REDJOSH,
The use of proper body english is vital to operating your ATV in any terrain, especially ruts.Is it your plan to ''go around'' these ruts or will you try and navigate thru some of them?

The important thing is to remember that the drive wheels are in the back, so try to keep your weight back, for the most traction.
If you fall into ruts, and want out, look ahead on the trail for a place where the ruts are shallow. If you can't steer out of them, shift weight forward while turning, and let off the gas a little, then goose it, while trying to 'kick' the rear end of the quad in the opposite direction you are steering. This usually works if the ruts aren't too muddy.

To cross ruts, shift your weight back. Goose the throttle just before the front wheels hit the ruts, and let off as soon as the front wheels clear the rut, and try to just let the rear end 'float' over them. The sharper the angle you try to cross the ruts, the better luck you will have.
