I wouldn't say pads are pads. The stock Polaris pads just plain suck. They are way to soft, so they wear very fast.
Most quality aftermarket pads will be the best. Kukerdans suggestion is good, also check out EBC. You can oder pads from many places including Dennis Kirk.

"Brakes Sux" should only be used in reference to brakes that do not work, like drum brakes in the mud... you question should have been, why do Polaris brakes wear out so fast... and the answer has been given. Polaris stock pads are too soft, or were to soft in the past. I think the 2002s all have severe duty which are better.

Polaris makes 3 types of pads.Stock ATVs come with regular duty pads, they wear out very fast.Than Polaris carries a medium duty pad which is better than stock. The best Polaris pads to switch over to are SEVERE duty pads, they will outlast any of the other two mention.Any after market sintered pad is also a good choice.

Now this is whats weird. The cost of BOTH front sets of Polaris severe duty pads are 35 bucks[BOTH SIDES!].It cost 55 bucks for just ONE set of the rear Polaris severe duty pads.

Go Figure?

I use the Polaris sever duty pads and get over a years worth of hard rideing, mud, sand ,and hills. They are worth the extra cash.
