Dislocated Rear Axle - Polaris 500 - how do I..
#4
FYI I had trouble geting mine back in. Heck, I had trouble geting them out. But when you put them back, I found that you had to get the spring alligned in the angled part of the shaft input on the tranny. I was about to give up and call the dealer again. Just happened to press the spring clip "up" a little and it poped right in.

The axle is splined where it goes into the Diff/trans. You must be talking about the cv joint. There is a inside "c"clip that I had to expand to get the axle out and clean the old grease out of the bearings and shell. My dealer let me use his pliers to put the boot clamps back on. I tore two of them driving over waste the loggers left on our trails. Two boots in 4 weeks. I put in a post about rear "A" arm guards but did'nt get a response. It seems like I saw a yellow Polaris in an article that had a flull length plastic skid and boot protectors on both ends. I could'nt find them on Polaris site or in any of my catalogs. Just the front ones seem to be available. After changing It shure is a simple repair.
