When I ride the quad on pavement at higher speeds the steering will rock back and forth. At slower speeds not noticable. Whats causing this? Thanks for any help.

Could be loose wheel or hub, or the tie rod ends. To check the wheel or hub play, lift the front end up and grab the tire and try to move it side to side then top to bottom. If there is play you will feel movement. The tie rod ends check for movement in any direction.

My 2000 sp500 does this as well. It has been flipped twice and rolled two or three times, anyway I believe that it could any one of a couple of things:
1. Out of round tires
2. Bent rims
3. Tore-in/out out of adjustment
4. or two much egg nog

Default Sportsman steering problem

Mine did the same thing, what I did was to securly support the quad on stands letting the wheels hang. Put it in 4WD and slowely bring up the speed while keeping an eye on the wheels. The wheel/wheels causing the problem will show them selves as the wheel/wheels will start to move up and down, as would a tire out of balance. I ended up having one tire replaced under warranty and my problem went away.
