Do I have a problem with 400 sport cooling fan?
#1
I am helping a friend with some repair from a roll over on a 96 polaris 400 sport. Does the cooling fan run anytime you have the key in the on position? After the roll over he said this is what it has been doing. He says he is sure it didn't run like this before. I found the temp. sensor in the radiator. All connections seem to be plugged in. Do you think this sensor could be bad? Any suggestions?

You do have a problem with the fan it should not run as soon as the key is turned on.It should run when the temp. sensor reaches a certain temp not when the switch is turned on,I would turn the key on and unplug the wires going to the sensor the fan should stop running if it does stop running you have a bad sensor,if it does not stop running check the wires from the sensor to the fan for a ground.I think on your model machine you have a fan switch mounted on the top of the radiator I would start there and work my way back to the fan I think the wire going to the switch is red & white.Hope this helps!
