I have a 99 Magnum 500 bought first weekend they hit the market. It has been flawless despite the hard time I have given it. I am read for more power, but want to keep the Magnum.I need help on modifications to the magnum that work. Please helpful post only, no buy this quad or that quad, as I enjoy the Magnum and like Polaris (3rd one. The HO cam will slip right into it. It will likely require re-jetting, but will give somewhat more zip. Other than that, I don't know what would be cost-effective. A pipe that would flow more air would be louder, that is personal choice.
A clutch kit will do wonders to better use the power the engine makes now, never a bad choice if you are willing to spend the money.

What I am hoping for, now that the 700 Sportsman is out, is that they will put the HO engine into the Magnum...I bet they would sell a bundle of them.

To get the H.O. power you do need to install the cam but you will also need to install a bigger carb. You can rejet the stock one but it still won't flow enough air to take advantage of the cam. I would then install a clutch kit and pipe. This should be plenty of power!
