I need help, need to retard the timming on my Trailblazer approx.2 degs. when I take off the cover how hard is it to pull off the flywheel I dont have a puller.and do I need to replace the gasket on the cover?I have a pinging problem I was told to try to retard the timming possable problem tried everthing else.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif[/img]

Did you try using higher octane gas. Because mine had a pinging noise at about 1/4 throttle then i tried using a higher octane gas and it quit pinging. About your question you do need a puller to get the flywheel. I'm not sure about the gasket and retarding question. Hope this helps.

I'm using sunoco 94 with octain booster

Trailblazerman,

I sent you a Private Message but I forgot to mention the cover gasket. If you don't damage it removing the cover then I would use a LIGHT coat of silicone on the back of the gasket and re-use it. If you damage the gasket then it would be wise to get a new one but if you have experience with using silicone then you know it can work wonders. I always use new gaskets at work but at home I can say I use lots of silicone, at least on my own stuff. If I'm doing engine work for people at home then I'll use new gaskets also. I guess if I'm charging you money then you get new gaskets.
