Whoa!

I didn't expect this kind of gain with a HPD Trail Pipe, RCR Stage 1 kit, 39PWK and Amsoil Pre-Mix 100:1 (mixed 80:1). This thing pulls HARD anywhere in the power band. Really hard. And it runs soooooo smooooth.

I highly recommend the HPD Trail pipe, Rick Ritter's Stage 1 (and his cutomer service), the 39PWK and Amsoil. Well worth the $700 bucks.

I have a quad I bought new at Christmas for $4200 (out the door) with a total cost of $4900. This dude runs, now time for a little suspension work.

This quad should make the perfect Scramble/Cross Country machine. It is easily the best deal AND best all (non-specialized) quad.

I have owned VERY fast motorcycles before. I have kitted them and raced them. This 400 2 stroke runs like a big dog. It is hard to believe a stock Raptor, a stock Banshee or a stock DS 650 can beat this. They may, I just don't know. But if they do, they will have to work real hard to do it. I dead sure won't be apologizing for the way my 400 runs.

What I have heard, if I trail port and raise the compression they won't feel they are even in the race. Right now, with the stuff I have, it may be close (I dunno). Those are good quads, really good. But none of them hop up so easily as the Scrambler 400. Plus, I know they will spend twice as much to do the same thing.

I am sure with the stuff I have put on mine, it will be a great Baja/Cross Country/Trail quad. Better than the 660R and DS/Baja 650 or Banshee. (Note I did not say MX).

Geez these Scramblers are so configurable at cheap prices. They are also so simple in design. Common mechanical knowledge is all that is needed. The other Big Bore quads are so complicated and involved.

The Scrambler also has a very good reputation on reliablilty afterwards, too.

I am very interested in putting the same kit on my Scrambler, as a start!! I would like to start with just the RCR Stage 1 kit with the HPD trail pipe. How much was the Stage 1 kit with the HPD trail pipe? I know the kit with the RCR pipe is $325. Just wondering how much more it is with the HPD pipe. It is great to hear how impressed you are with the kit, and I am sure I will be too! Thanks for the info.

Chunky,

The accelleration of the fully modified 400s is truly impressive. I got a chance to ride a friend's race mod 400 and it was simply too much for me in the woods. I'm happy with mine as it is now motor wise. I now have to work on getting traction with the 3"+ swingarm that is needed to handle the power my machine makes. I know there are far more powerful quads out there, but none of them are stock.
