Would a K&N power make a noticeable difference in power/accerleration/top speed?

My first & cheapest mod on my blazer was a filter,
My own opinion was that it helped slightly through the whole rev range, most noticed the accleration. I would not say it gave huge gains but was better than stock.
Depending on riding conditions air box mod will help also...
