I am getting close to the first recomended oil change on my new 700. The problem is none of my local dealers have the oil filters yet. If any of you know of a dealer that has them could you get me their contact info. Maybe I could mail order. Or maybe there is another source? Any help would be appreciated.

SilverV10,

What is the part # of your Polaris filter? If it is the same as the sp500 (PN 3084963), wix manufacturers a replacement that is less expensive than OEM, more available, and most likely a higher-quality product. Standard wix # 51358. Under the Napa name, the number is 1358. These filters are identical, both made by Wix, and have a higher-grade version referred to as "gold", which costs a little more. Wix filters can be bought at Napa Auto Parts, and possibly several other auto parts places. By the way, Polaris has used the same oil filter on on all their 4-stroke engines (I checked), so there is a high likelyhood that the same oil filter is used on your SP700.

The 700's oil filter is differant from the 500's. Plus it costs about $12 where as the 500's is $9.50 (that's what the dealer where i'm from charges at least).

I ended up getting the Napa equivalent. Part # 1356. $6.49. Made by Wix and you can't beat that. I also found out Purolator makes one to. Number # L14620. It's only about $3.00, but I felt safer with the NAPA/Wix.

SilverV10,

How did you cross-reference over to wix?

Anyway, I agree with you 100% about your filter choice. There are people who are loyal to fram and other cheap-made filters, and while I have had no problems from past usage of fram (past ignorance), I have seen cutaways, and many oil filters aren't of the same quality as wix. When it comes to protecting something valuable, I'll spend a few extra dollars to get a good-quality product. You probably still came out cheaper than going with the stock replacement.

Later,

Waylan

I didn't cross it. I asked this question on another board and two guys who have had the 700's for a while answered with the info and both have used the WIX.

NAPA has two part #1356 filters. Make sure you ask for the Gold Series. It is their better filter and is the one that costs $6.49. The standard #1356 is appx. $4.00. I have been running the Gold Series #1356 for quite sometime now with no problems whatsoever.

Yep, that's thew one I got. Also found the NGK plug number for the 700 if anyone needs it. It is 1356. Don't order them from a atv catalog or buy them from an ATV dealership. Way too expensive. Just go to any local auto parts store that sells NGK and get them there. My store didn't stock them but got them next day for me for $1.39 a plug. Good price for NGK. Can you believe our machines come with Champion Plugs? Yuk! I guess all Polaris machines do because a snowmobile I bought for my girlfriend two years ago had them too.

SilverV10,
Are you sure the NGK plug number is 1356? If so, that would be the same part number as the NAPA oil filter.
