I was wondering what the difference is between the plastics for a Scrambler 500vs400. Aside from the hood, are the plastics interchangeable from one to the other? I was curious because in my Polaris book they have different colors you can buy, but they have a different list for the two.

Thanks,
Colin

You've got it right, the hood is the only differenc. Block off the oil injection then there won't be any difference. Good excuse to use on the wife to mod more.....makes perfect economic sense.

Todd,
Sweet ride. You have the wheels I want. I just bought a 99 Scrambler 400 4x4. I have the top-end pipe and silencer from Aaen, Rad valve+reeds, k+n filter, and the roller clutch with the green primary and blue secondary springs. It goes pretty good now, but i'd eventually like to do some more mods. I also want a different colored plastic just to make it look different, that was the reason for my question above. Thanks for the help.

abaran,

Check out the new patriotic "Freedom series" quads from Polaris before you commit to anything. I wish I would have. Still, my quad is unique because it's the only white Sport I've seen.

Todd 400,

Before wasting your money on the original "Scrambler" lights, take a look at the way modquad (Ken) and I have done ours. Not only was it cheaper (for me it was, I can't speak for Ken), but it looks better and more streamlined. I know I'm getting at least as much, if not more light from my set up, than I did when I ran Scrambler lights.

Mike,
What kind of lights are those and how bright are they? They look really slick.

What did you make your hand guards from?

I was also told that I could update my 95 to the newer style plastic is this true?

ttaylor,

Those lights are just a pair of "projection" driving lights. They are slightly different from the projection fog lights in that they are clear instead of yellow or blue. At the time, I think I paid $75 for them, but they now have better priced ones out there. Moose Utility Division has basically the same thing as I have but for half the price.

The handguards are from Maier. The blue plastic (soon to be replaced with REAL handguards) is from a hardware store. I used the excess from my pipe heat sheild to make them.
