Different manufacturers color code their springs differently, so I'm not sure what the specs are on a HSP black.

Basically remove the snap ring on the inside of the secondary, beig carefull not to let the spring shoot up at you. Install the new one into the holes, preload it, by turning it 1/4 turn clockwise, push down and reinstall the snap ring. It's a pain to do without the tool, but one person can do it.

Inspect your buttons while it's open too!

AZ400L,
I know it was just a phew-pa on your part but I think
you meant counter-clockwise!

What is your fax number ? I have copies , I will send you one if you wish .

When installing the spring , wind the spring a third more than it would take to get it to go together .

Thanks Rick, but I put it together this morn------NO PROB.Thank also to AZ just as you said very easy.Do I need ti take it back off and turn it 1/3 or is 1/4 enough? It feels alot better.I can lift the front end over bumps alot better.Cant wait to put my sand tires on and try it tomorrow. Is it worth me buying a primary spring?I do alot of trail and sand riding.Or wait to upgrade my suspension?I want all the power I can get without changing the exhaust.I know I cant do much but I love how quiet the machine is.Its hard for my buddies to keep up with it now,and most of the time they dont. Thanks very much

Thanks man. The top CVT fiklter is an Emgo carb filter for a GSX1100, and the bottom intake is just a piece of PVC with a reducer to fit the boot and I use a womens pantyhose to cover it.

I got the the tach and housing through RCR.

As for a spring change, I always thought a polaris green worked ok with a stock pipe on a 400 scrambler. Recently I discovered a new spring that engages higher , and shifts a little lower than the green , I LIKE IT ! It is an aftermarket orange.(not to be confused with polaris orange)

Hey Rick, I am still trying to get this 300 of mine dialed in and I can't get it to shift the way I want to. I have tried the Polaris white and the EPI red, and after the last conversation with you last week on the phone, I tried the Polaris orange one.The orange one makes the bike rev up but it shifts way to slow. It has too high a spring rate. When you talk about an aftermarket orange do you mean the EPI orange? If so I might try one and see what happens.Right now I have the white one in it with a 3/16 shim onder it. It engages at about 2500 and shifts alright but I am still falling off the peak RPM a bit.

Hey Sparks how does the EPI red compare to the polaris white?
