'are sportsmans reliable?'
America at WAR- what is the US Military riding around on looking for that mass-murdering-bastard overseas in the desert? oh yea, POLARIS ATV's.

Sure they are... thats because the US government does not want to be seen on anything other than American machinery. So, what other choice do they have? Cannondale?

I have a 99 Sportsman and have yet to have a problem 2700 Miles on it except on set of tie rods. My dad has a 2001 Sportsman HO with 1300 Miles and has not had a problem.

Hats off to Bill! I don't think anybody in here could have said it any better.

Muddy, you are a master of diplomacy.

From what I have seen, the Sportsmans (and later-model Polaris machines in general) are about as good as any other comparable machine as long as you keep it greased. The only problems I really have seen with premature wear seem to be from the guys who bury them in mud. The general trail riders seem to have pretty good luck.

Maintain it and it will be good to you. Don't and you'll be sorry. Most quads today are reliable, to me its a matter of preference, I prefer the sportsman...
