Polaris Industries has introduced a special edition ATV in honor of NASCAR’s “King” Richard Petty.

The Sportsman 500 H.O. Richard Petty Special Edition is a 2002 model Sportsman 500 H.O. with custom, King-selected additional features. The Richard Petty edition Sportsman 500 H.O. comes with chrome-plated steel wheels with Polaris-exclusive, 25-inch Goodyear® Rawhide Grip tires, red suspension springs, front and rear chrome double tube bumpers, and front and rear chrome rack extenders.

It wouldn’t be a Richard Petty machine without the number 43 as part of the special graphics package. The black plastic cab is complimented with red and sonic blue stripes, a custom two-tone black and sonic blue seat and the King’s signature and profile on the side of the tank.

The same industry-leading features found on the standard Sportsman 500 H.O. are also in this limited edition model. Features include the powerful 500 High Output 4-valve, 4-stroke engine, the industry-leading Polaris Independent Rear Suspension with 9.5 inches of travel and 11 inches of ground clearance, the On-Demand true 4-Wheel Drive, and the legendary, award-winning Polaris Variable Transmission (PVT) with Engine Braking System (EBS).

“We’re excited for the opportunity to release this exciting special edition Richard Petty model,” said Bennett Morgan, General Manager, Polaris ATV division. “Polaris is proud of our involvement with NASCAR, and especially proud of the relationship with Richard Petty. The relationship between Polaris and Richard Petty is very important to us. We felt a special, limited edition ATV is a perfect tribute to the partnership with Richard Petty and a way to honor his many accomplishments.”

Dealers will take delivery of the limited Sportsman 500 H.O. Richard Petty Special Edition beginning in March. The model will have a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $7,399.
