SM 700 squeaking noise
#2
I don't know much about the 700s, but with about any other machine from Polaris, if you hear an odd squeaking from the front end, it is usually where the top of the struts mount. Try squirting a little wd-40 at the top of the strut & see if it goes away. If it does, you found the problem. Waterproof grease in an aerosol can will keep the squeak away longer. I don't think the squeak hurts anything, it is just an annoyance.

The squeaking you are hearing is the EBS system. It is actually the belt making the noise. Mine and all of my friends SP700s make the same noise, some worse than others. Originally Polaris recommended removing a shim from the clutch, but according to my dealer Polaris is no longer recommending this due to the fact that it renders the EBS virtually useless. Polaris says the squeak is caused by the belt rubbing on rough machined surfaces on the clutch halves. They think in time the rough machining will wear down and the squeak should be less noticeable. The squeak is more of an annoyance than a problem.
