I have a Sport 400L. I am replacing the yellow plastic with red. I premix so I don't have an oil tank anymore. Is there such a thing as a red hood without the oil hole but still has the headlight incorporated into it? If so what year should I ask for in order to get one? Thanks,

J Prentice

Unfortunelty not. The only hoods available with the light are red, yellow and purple, But they were are with the oil hole, I have a very nice red hood for sale if you click my link at the bottom It is the one off of my scram, I went to dual headlights and a smooth hood and dont need it any more.

Todd,
I might go with the smooth hood and headlights also.Where did you mount your lights and what kind of lights did you use? Do you have a pic you could send? I would be interested in seeing it. Thanks J Prentice

Like Todd 400 said, they don't make a Scrambler front hood without the oil tank hole and with the headlight housing. But as small as the headlights on those hoods are, you'd be better off going to either an aftermarket light set (like I did) or getting a set of Scrambler lights for it. Those small single headlights are just about worthless at night. You can see my light setup on my page. Just follow the link below. I mounte my small projection headlights on either side of my bumper, just below the front plastic. They are a very "high speed, low drag" setup.

Thanks Mike...I like your setup. Are you lights mounted to the plastic? Also I am thinking about getting new handle bars also. Is it true that most bars will fit into the clamps? And lastly , where did you get your bumper on you you Sport?

Thanks for your help,

J Prentice

Tyson,
I got my plastic from my local Polaris dealer. That is just about the only place you can get it other than finding it on E-bay. As for the color,I knew I wanted red so I didn't look for any other color. But I know that you can get it in red, yellow, white, purple.

Hope this helps,

Sport400LSC,

No, the lights are mounted using the same bolts I use to hold the top of the front bumper on. Most handlebars will fit the Polaris clamps with the exception of the Pro Taper bars and HPD makes a set of clamps to hold those. The DG Alumilite bumper was bought from Dennis Kirk. It is one of the old style that didn't have the extra shielding around the bottom, hence the modified Polaris skidplate on the bottom of it.

Hope this helps!

Ill have new pics up in a week or so, Im waiting on my Holeshot front skid to show up before i take new pics, I buy most of my stock parts from Parker Polaris out of dirtwheels, I ordered a stock black hood for a 96 400 scrambler and the dual headlight kit for scramblers thet Polaris sells, the kit has everything including the new switch, lights gaurd and all mouting hardware, Everything set me back about $150, But very well worth it compared to the single beam single light. I got the part #'s for the light kit and the hood if you need them, I run Renthal Quadracer bend bars on my scram and they work out great

Did a new stator plate come with the kit? Do you what kind of light output you will get running the scrambler lights on the sport?
