does anyone have the polaris part number for the coil spring spacers that are mentioned in the V-plow artical on this site. this is the spacer that you only need to raise the front end to install. also any pros or cons of this part. lots of snow here in central ontario these days, and that spacer looks like a good idea.
thanks in advance.

Polardogg: hows things up in the great north country? I just put a set of these in my 99 Explorer and they did not raise my front end at all. But it did stiffen up the springs though. Another fella e mailed me and he put 2 sets in his front end to elinate the squat of a snowplow. The part # is: #2872655- called a rubber coil spring spacer kit. It is a Polaris part. Curious what does your dealer want for the kit? Pete PS we plan on coming up your way this spring to do some riding, how are the trails?

thanks for the part #, I don't know the price yet, but the other spacers that had to have the springs taken off to install are $20 canadian.
the trail system here is still under developed, we have an ammazing sled trail system, but many of these trails go through farm fields that are closed in summer. as you go farther north you have more access. there are still lots of places to ride. if you know where you are going I can give you info or maps, or some GPS UTM's.

Thanks for the offers. We are plannning on going on 1 of R & S Tours out of Elliot Lake near Spanish, Ont. Camp out in the bush for a week. Those rubber spacers are a breeze to install. Jack up front end to take pressure off the shock springs, lube them up with liquid dishsoap and screw them in. They go in the middle coil. Any more help contact me. Pete

I got my spacers $19.95 canuck bucks. A dealer led me to believe that there were two different spacers, one set needing strut removal, and the other slipping into the springs. Turns out that the dealer didn't know they had a split in them, and there was only one style.
Elliot Lake should be a blast. I have never had my wheeler up there but a moose hunting trip just west of Spanish near Blind River brings back great memories of some wonderful country. Also I have had many camping and fishing trips on Manitoulin Island.
Don't forget a fishing pole, and BUG SPRAY.
Rubber down and good luck
Dave

Polardogg: Hey you got a real deal on those spacers! They are $18 US here! A fiend of mine is looking for a set for his new Sportsman so I may just wait and get them over there. As I said before they are VERY EASY to install and remove if you do not want to ride with them in. I rode with mine in last weekend and they worked good, they stiffened up the front but not to the point as a harder ride. R & S tours has a couple openings left if you want to come along. He has mixed groups on his trips and there are only 3 of us so far. Pete

Guys,

Remember the warnings from Polaris on these spacers. Once the plow is removed, the spacers should be removed. Others have discovered that warranty is void if CV joints or the like start breaking with the spacers installed.

Winter was here in Ottawa a week ago. This week it sure looks like Spring is here! Here comes the mud!

You're right spring has made an early start, but I bet there is a little more winter left. This is my favorite time to ride we have snow, ice, mud, and water, what a blast.
My spacers came with no warning about taking them out when the plow comes off. Only to put the same number of spacers on each side, it also said I could put them in the rear. Because they only stiffen the springs I don't see how they could damage the CV's, only my observation.
If they do raise the front end it's not much, like a fraction of an inch, maybe nothing.

Polardogg; I just got another set of these for my brother inlaw and asked the dealer about the Polaris warning. He said the same thing-" What warning? " He had a new Explorer 400 on the floor and the shops 400 demo with a plow and spacers. The plow was off and we measured the heights and the angle of the cv joints on both machines and there was barely 3/8" difference. All they do is STIFFEN the spring rate somewhat, very little at that. Funny they sell you these accessories and when something breaks, they say " NOT UNDER WARRANTY" because you modified the machine! The dealer has 2 BN machines that did not have spacers in them with broken CV joints. Engineer them a little better and they won!t have those problems.
