split brakes for a Scrambler
#1
Just returned from Canada snowmobiling, while there I rode a guys sport 400 with split brakes, this made the machine drive like a snowmobile, rear brake on the left, throttle on right. My question is, are most split brakes with the rear brake on the left, and where do you get the kit, how much $, how hard to install? You folks have never left me down in the past.

Although HPD makes the kit, you can get it from RCR too, for the same price, $140. However I suggest comming up with the extra $75 to get the seperate master cylinder for the rear (otherwise both still use the same cylinder, although different levers). The newer kits have better looking billet levers too.
It's not that difficult to install, the problem is bleeding the lines till the feel is right for you.
With the kit your rear lever will be on the left, and front on the right. After installing it on my '99 Sport I scrapped the foot system entirely and plugged the hole in the caliper. I also just had a set of Goodrich stainless steel lines made for the front and rear too. Although I have'nt ridden it with the new lines yet, I expect the braking to be greatly improved!
