Either the HPD one or the AZ BAD BOYS one is good. That is the best mod that you can get for the 250 if you get the race kit and include the reed mod. It will make the 250 really rip.

What kind of performance are we talking about? Simular to a
400 scram? YEAP! Will it run with a piped scram? YEAP!
Is it expensive? Depends on if you're getting an allowance or
have too work for a living.

For those of you who have purchased HPD's concentric chain
tensioner. Be have careful of where you position it. If its
too far down on the swing arm the CHAIN could shear off the
end of the Zerks grease fitting. Make sure the chain is
positioned in the middle of the roller wheel!

Is a reed converted TB good for trail riding or should it be left for racers only?

I ride mine on the trails and it does just fine. It has a higher
engagement point so hill climbing could be the only problem.

AZ bad boys have the kit that still utilizes the stock air box for the trail riders That go threw water. And have it in diferent stages that will help the people that don't have the $$ to do it all at once. As long as you stay away from the full race setup you will be fine on the trails.
