I have a flat on my quad. I used a regular tire repair plug to fix it. Will this hold up?

Hey RIPPLES. Nice to see another Sask. person in the Forum. My brother has used plugs on his Polaris 500 to fix several flats, and they seem to hold up quite well. I'm not sure if he used the ones for radial tires, but they were black plugs. When I see him next, I'll ask him and let you know. I'm curious too as to which type of tire plug works and lasts the longest.

I just take my flats to the tire stoor down the street, he fixes them up nice and does it for free, what a nice guy.

Ripples, I have used dozens of plugs in my stock Goodyears. Never had one go bad. We have these trees here in Oklahoma with about 3-4" thorns . Last year we brushhogged where we deer hunt and mowed over alot of these trees. I had ALOT of thorns to pull. When I did pull them, I used plugs to fill the void. I hope this wont happen as easy with new 6 plies.

Like the others posted, the plugs work great. Was gonna try the slime, but someone once told me it was corrosive to aluminum. Figured it wasn't worth the risk. Anyone else out there hear that?

The Plug should work just fine, but under some cases they can leak or pop out after they are rode on a while. I would suggest a PLUG PATCH, Seals the Inside and the hole on the out side. When done correctly this is the best method to fix a puncture.
The downfall is that the tire will need to be removed from the rim to apply patch.
The best thing about Plugs, They can be done on the Trail with out removing anything. But I still consider them temperary.
