Wife wants to buy me a birthday present, not sure if I should get the Warn 2500 or would the 2000 be enough to get by? Fill me in on the pro's and con's of both please.

I just installed the Warn 2500 on my new cat and I love the craftmanship. The difference between the 2 winches isn't much. The warn 2500 gets very thick cables and I think a different solenoid, this allows more voltage to the winch which generates more power. So far the winch is very powerful but I haven't put it to the test yet. Thats all the info I can offer, go get the 2500.

Billyclub,
I sent you a pm eariler this week ,did you get it?

If I had the choice I would get the 2500.(double tube front bumpper wont work with the 2500)
I'v been in to many bad spots where the 2000 wouldent or barely got me out.
But then again a 2000 with a block would have.

I've hot the warn 2000 on my 02 grizzly and pulls me out every time. Before this I had it on my 00 big bear and I acually pulled my ATV vertically up an approx. 8 foot cliff. Awsome power! I don't know if the power is that much better on the 2500. But I do know that I would buy a WARN WINCH.

Can't live without one!

Billyclub,
my SP500 has the 2000 Warn. in general i'm pleased with the performance. it does run out of power when i'm buried in deep crusty snow.
i had a 2500 Warn on a SP500 in '99 and the only thing i disliked was the bulky remote and long remote wire.
there is a wireless remote on the market now on a 2500lb winch. off hand i don't remember who the mfg. is but if you are interrested i will look it up for ya. the wireless remote resembles the keyless entry on an automobile. i think it's a great idea.
see-ya,
MT

If I was going to buy a winch now I would go with the Ramsey 2500 pound winch. I think that it costs about the same as the Warn A2500 and it includes a wireless remote and draws less current than the Warn. I do not know why the 2500 would not work with a double tube front bumper I. I thought that the winch was the same as the A2000, the only differences I am aware of are the wires are bigger and it uses a different solenoid. Warn also makes a U2500 that will work - it is about $100 cheaper. It does not come with the remote or a roller fairlead though and I think that it has a different solenoid. This is the winch that is usually for sale on ebay and people are paying more than what you can go to Pep Boys and buy them for.
